Applicants may fall into one of two pools:  high school seniors and non-traditional students. Please read the following information carefully to make sure you are eligible for the scholarship and that you apply using the proper application. Contact our office if you have any questions.

The application deadline for 2008 was noon on January 17.

HIGH SCHOOL ("TRADITIONAL") APPLICANT INFORMATION

Applications for high school seniors are available through our website (see our on-line application page) and your guidance office.

Requirements and Criteria

Applicants must:

  ü    have a 2.5 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale

  ü    have SAT Critical Reading and Mathematics score of 800  

            or higher OR an ACT composite score of 16 or higher

  ü    be a U.S. citizen and a resident of or attending high school

            in Tippecanoe County

  ü    have graduated from an accredited Indiana high school by

            June 2008

     ü     be able to demonstrate financial need

 

The following are considered in selecting recipients:

 

  ü    community, school, and work activities, evidence of

            leadership

  ü    recommendations

  ü    essay

  ü        demonstration of unique/unusual circumstances

  ü    financial need

  ü        grade point average and difficulty of high school courses

            taken

  ü    neatness and thoroughness of application

  ü    finalist interview

 

NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION INFORMATION

Applications for non-traditional students are available from our office; an on-line application is also available. See the on-line application page.

 

Requirements and Criteria

 

Candidates must:

 

  ü    have proof of graduation from an accredited Indiana high 

            school (transcripts or diploma)

  ü    be a resident of Tippecanoe County

  ü    be a U.S. citizen

  ü    have less than 14 hours college credit towards a

            baccalaureate degree

     ü     be able to demonstrate financial need

 

Criteria 

 

The following are considered in selecting recipients:

 

  ü    work experience and community service; evidence of

            leadership

  ü    recommendations

  ü    essay

  ü    demonstration of unique/unusual circumstances

  ü    financial need

  ü    academic record

  ü    neatness and thoroughness of application

  ü    finalist interview

 

 

What is a non-traditional student?

 

A non-traditional student is one who is age 24 and above (by the scholarship deadline date) OR less than 24 and able to prove at least one of the following:  married; supporting one or more children; independent of parents or others for economic support.
