Cancer Survivors Scholarship

Sponsor: American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division

Eligibility: Scholarships are available annually, based on financial need, academic performance, community service and leadership qualities. To qualify, first time applicants must be: a cancer survivor age 20 or under as of April 16, 2008; a US citizen; a legal resident of Indiana or Michigan; and attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university in Indiana or Michigan in Fall 2008 as a fulltime student carrying 12 or more credit hours per semester.

Hoosier Presidential Scholarship

 Sponsor: Indiana University

Eligibility: Must be an entering freshman who is an Indiana resident and who has been admitted to Indiana University. These students are invited by the campus to apply for the scholarship. Recipients are named in late January.

Amount of aid available: Four-year renewable scholarships range from $6,000 to $12,000.

Mary E. Denham Scholarship Fund

 Sponsor: American Red Cross of Tippecanoe County

Eligibility: Will provide health and safety classes for those who are unable to afford them. Includes CPR/AED, first aid and life guarding classes that the chapter offers. Candidate must write an essay (max 100 words) describing why they need the scholarship. Must also explain how they believe that others will benefit from their successful completion of the course for which they are applying. Candidates can only apply and be chosen once.

Amount of aid available: Maximum amount - $65. Includes the amount of the class, participant manuals and any other additional supplies required for the course.

Indiana Sheriffs' Association

Sponsor: Indiana Sheriffs' Association

Eligibility: Will award 40 scholarships of $500 each to high school seniors and college students pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Applicants must be Indiana residents and full-time students majoring in a law enforcement field at an Indiana college or university. They must also be members, or a dependent child or grandchild or someone who is a member, of the Sheriffs' Association.

Application Deadline: April, 2008

Valparaiso University Scholarship for Lilly Scholar Recipients

Sponsor: Valparaiso University

Eligibility: Must be a 2007 Lilly Endowment community Scholar.

Amount of aid available: On campus room and board

Application Deadline: Not applicable

To apply: Be awarded a Lilly Endowment community Scholarship.
